  • Turn off any lights and appliances when not in use: although many electronics have energy saver mode these days these appliances still utilise energy to stay on. The easiest solution is to use a power strip as a central point to turn off all appliances when finished. This minimises the appliances to turn off and makes for an easy habit. This can be beneficial during summer months when many electronics can add heat to your home-countering your air conditioning.
  • Adjust your thermostat whenever you leave the apartment to avoid unnecessary heating or cooling.
  • Utilise energy efficient lightbulbs in your home. These typically last longer and you can purchase lights that sustain your dim preferences.
  • Use the solar energy by keeping windows in the shade in the summer, or int he winter allowing the sun in as many windows as possible the heat up the inside of your apartment.
